Law Clerk Offerings
Babcock Law Firm is always looking for law clerks with good grades and what it takes to succeed after law school. Our law clerks become directly involved in client work on their first day on the job. We are not a firm that gets caught up in the frills of lavishly courting law clerks; however, if you want to get in the mix of some real world legal stuff, this could be the place for you.
Our firm is getting a solid reputation for getting law clerks real world experience. At the time of this page update (summer of 2008) our firm has four full-time law clerks and we have a waiting list of law clerks who would like to “intern” at our firm, without pay, simply for the benefit of the work experience we provide. We typically try to keep one of these “interns” in the firm at all times, because it gives clerks who might not meet our scholastic standards a chance to work with us. Sound hard to believe? Ask someone that has worked for us.
The firm provides bonuses to students who complete a judicial clerkship prior to joining the firm, if our offer is accepted before the judicial clerkship begins. Bonus amounts are as follows and are paid when the judicial clerk begins working with us:
Lateral Addition of Lawyers
We are always open to adding established lawyers on a lateral basis to our firm. Our primary goal in considering such additions is that the decision be one that will serve both the candidate and ourselves over the long term. We envision the most successful additions to be candidates with whom we are professionally acquainted.
Our interest is limited to candidates who have established practices where both the client base served and the specialty area of practice are compatible with our existing practice. As a benchmark, candidates expecting to be considered as a lateral hire should have an established practice sufficient to keep himself or herself and one other person, either associate or paralegal, fully occupied. Our interest includes lateral prospects whose client bases and skills will complement or supplement our litigation and appellate practices. We are open to considering other areas, in which case our first task with the candidate is to conclude whether there is a practice fit.
