About us

Our Technology

To differentiate Babcock Law Firm from other boutique litigation practices, our lawyers and staff have adopted the tools and resources necessary to ensure an immediate and more effective response. Over the past several years, our firm has invested nearly $100,000 on technology infrastructure and has developed a long-term plan to continue this strategic investment. High-speed local and wide-area networks, high-end computers and BlackBerry® handhelds, integrated billing and case management software platforms, several external Web sites, and centralized and remote terminal servers are all in place—making integrated legal services available 24/7, on a worldwide basis. Equally important, our lawyers and support staff are continually developing innovative ways to use that technology to enhance our practice and improve client service. We also bring in an outside consultant for one week every year, to train the firm’s employees and “tweak” our systems as necessary.

Knowledge management is at the heart of the firm’s current technology initiatives. The firm is currently upgrading its internal search capabilities to give each professional the tools he or she needs to locate the precise agreement, pleading or other document needed.

We use technology to work and to communicate with our clients around the globe. In addition to robust voice and computer networks, we have opened our lines of communication to include electronic fax delivery as well as a state-of-the-art video-conferencing system, complete with a wall-mounted plasma screen and dedicated video-conferencing server with ultra high-speed internet access. Moreover, each of our attorneys can access all firm data via the Internet.

In the summer of 2006, Babcock Law Firm installed a networked litigation management software system to support the hundreds of litigation tasks that we accomplish every day and to manage the computerized database of firm documents, library resources, and business intelligence.

In the spring of 2007, the firm installed a suite of networked evidence and trial preparation software by LexisNexis. CaseMap, TimeMap, TextMap, and NoteMap are all tools included in this suite, allowing our people to organize complex, multiparty litigation as well as the thousands of documents that must be available to us on a moment’s notice.

The distribution of documents for complex litigation can be time-consuming and inefficient. The firm has therefore implemented paperless litigation management protocols to store documents in one database that is Web accessible by all parties. This technology reduces our dependence on Federal Express® package delivery, e-mail attachments, faxes, and other documents. In other words, our improved processes save us time and save our clients money. The efficiencies realized in the automation of cases and in the ability to work online—efficiencies that range from reducing photocopy costs to creating electronic witness and issue binders to increasing the portability of large volumes of documents—apply to cases of all sizes.

We at Babcock Law Firm are also on the cutting edge of electronic billing. In the legal industry, this practice has developed largely as a result of the demand by insurance companies and corporations for a more efficient method of handling the many legal invoices processed each month. We offer our clients the following electronic billing options: LEDES (Legal Electronic Data Exchange Standard), Legalgard®, Examen®, PeerPoint/PWC®, NationWide®, and Bristol-Myers Squibb®. If a client prefers a particular billing format, we are happy to adapt to it.

Lastly, our clients are able to access our website at www.babcockfirm.com to view hundreds of details and notes about the activity and filings taking place in their cases any time.
